Pumpkins, helper boy, go ducks and 3rd Trimester!!!

Well I haven't felt very "bloggy" lately if that is a word! A lot has gone on but I have felt no desire to share it with the world! However I soon realized that we have family who regularly checks the blog, and I felt guilty that I hadn't updated in a while! So here is a blog purge! Everything that has happened over the last week and a half!

Last night Travis had a basketball meeting, and I had already promised Madison and Zachary that we would carve pumpkins. I had taken a glucose test and had a flu shot that morning ( more on that later.) and by 7pm I had no desire to play with pumpkin guts!! I did it anyway and it was pretty fun. We had gotten one of those kits that had a scrapper and saw knives along with patterns for your pumpkin. Madison read through the book and chose a bat on a grave stone, and Zachary stuck with the traditional face.

I did Madison's first because she had to go to bed and it took a lot longer than Zach's. They are making their "scary" faces!

The finished products! I think they turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself! The kids only like to look inside. They will not touch the guts. I had to convince Madison to throw away the bag of innards, she didn't even want to do that! She also told me that she will carve her own pumpkin when she is 29!

After Madison was in bed I started on Zachary's pumpkin. He more of a traditionalists when it comes to pumpkins, so we chose the face pattern. It was a lot easier than Madison's and took about 1/2 the time!

Alright now on to "helper boy." Last week our front door was a little wobbly. So I went and found the appropriate size Phillips head screw driver and set to work. Well once Zachary saw what I was doing he of course needed to join in the fun.

He was concentrating so hard! There were about 6 screws to tighten!

He was so proud that we was helping mommy! Both kids have been very helpful lately.
They tend to leave toys out (what kid doesn't right!) and I can't see them as of late so all I have to say is, "I just tripped over that and almost fell. Do you want me to fall and hurt Brynley?" And they rush to pick whatever it is up off the floor!! And on Sunday I have back to back meetings and Madison asked when I would be home. I said I will be home after the first to finish the dishes and then I had to go back for choir. Out of the blue she says, " I'll do the dishes for you so you don't have to do them when you get back!" She unloaded a very full dish washer!

Last Thursday also happened to be game day! Which meant that everyone needed to wear green and or yellow! With Madison's dress code at school we had to get creative. So we layered up! They can layer as long as the long sleeve fit within the dress code rules! So she was ducked out for school that day!

Well I am officially in my 3rd trimester! Which means that I have 10 or less weeks until the end! At my appointment yesterday I had to have blood drawn for a glucose test (which tests for gestational diabetes). 1 hour and 10 minutes before my appointment I had to drink this nasty orange glucose drink. It tasted like over powered tang, maybe even worse! I had only 10 minutes to chug it down. And after I drank it I was not allowed to drink or eat anything not even brush my teeth! GROSS! It was not a good morning. Then on top of that I had to have a flu shot! I think I feel worse today than yesterday.
I have still only gained 8 lbs total and I have 9 weeks left! I no longer have 4 weeks appointment! I only have about 3 maybe 4 left! It's so exciting! She is about 3.5 lbs and 14-16 inches long! Which means that she is running out of room!!

Minute to Win It!

This past week we had a ward activity. We did an ice cream social and played "Minute to Win It" Games!! It was a blast! We had people bring homemade ice cream and their favorite sundae toppings! The kids were a little wired after the chocolate sauce, m & m's, and whipped cream!! My committee and I had about 15 games to play. Some or most of the games adult and primary age kids could play. So this post will be split into a few separate posts because of all the pictures that were taken.

The first game of the evening was "Paper Dragon." They had to unroll 2 rolls of paper party streamers with just their arms!!

Next was "Extreme Hanky Panky!" Jacob, Gary, Tate and Veronique had to unload a box of Kleenex with one had! Notice in the next pictures how the pile of tissues grows!

This one was a kid game called "Defying Gravity!" They had to keep one balloon in the air for 1 minute. The adult version was 3 balloons!

If the kids could keep up their balloon they won a piece of candy!

YUM!

So last night was our Enrichment Activity for Relief Society (women's organization at church). First we did a treat and trade, where you bring things you don't want and basically take home whatever you want. Kind of like a free yard sale! I found Madison some uniform pants, a long sleeve shirt, and a winter coat!

When that was over they did a bread making demonstration. Margaret Mitchell is an awesome bread maker! Her loaves always come out perfect, and makes all of us feel pretty inadequate! The room smelt wonderful, full of several types of bread and different spreads to sample! She showed us different techniques, and different flours to use. All were very useful!

I make one kind of bread. Dinner rolls!! They are the best, in fact my friend Veronique received a batch for her birthday!! So after last night I felt a jolt of confidence in bread baking! I decided to make Cinnamon Raisin Bread! I was a repeat sample offender last night, and I just had to make it myself! So I did!
I didn't have any problems. What??? Not normal. It continued to bake and smell soooooo good. The hardest part of the 3.5 hours was waiting for it to rise so I could punch it down and wait for it to rise again!
The end product was AMAZING!

Aren't they beautiful?!?!??! Oh and the smell that filled the house was divine! So yummy in fact it helped me drift off for my afternoon nap! (Yes people I take an afternoon nap! I am pregnant and I am entitled to!) However Zachary is a carb monster! So when I woke up this is what I found!

I asked him what happened and if we suddenly had mice! He smiled and said that he wanted another piece, and didn't want to wake me up! So sweet!
It is really good and I can say that the other loaf is more than 1/2 gone!! YUM!

What?

I came home last night from an enrichment activity and found Zachary peacefully sleeping..................on the floor! His new thing is to procrastinate bed time! We will put him down about 8pm ish and he will come out 5-10 time! He needs a drink of milk, to ask me what will be for breakfast, if he can wear a certain shirt the next day, or if he can sleep with a specific animal friend!!

It's getting ridiculous! So if you just ignore him he goes back in his room. Last night he fell asleep reading a book on the floor! Do you know
how heavy a sleeping 45lb 4 year old is?? I didn't
even attempt to move him, so Travis helped get him into bed!

On the baby front......... things are going pretty well. I feel bigger but I don't think I look much bigger?!?!? I am 26 weeks 4 days. I can't wait until the 10 week countdown! I think I am pretty well prepared this time around!
I think that I have learned what we need before we need it! We have diapers (thanks to my mother- in -law!) and wipes, and clothes! There are a few personal items that I need but I think that Brynley is pretty set!

Now we have a middle name issue! We both agree on Brynley but
the middle name is not easy to agree on! So I made a list. I will list them all here and you tell me what you think. Or if you have another suggestion!

Zachary

Zachary has a fascination with "worker trucks" as he calls them. He knows the names of each one, and what their function is. So this morning when I was blogging, an Idaho Power truck pulled up next door to work on the street light! He sat on the table and watch intently until the truck left.

I missed it when the basket was high in the sky checking out the light.

Update

Here is a little update mostly for family! I am now just over 25 weeks along, which means 13 weeks to go!! We are very excited to have Brynley join our family! Recently Madison has been talking to her and even gave her a kiss!

I still have only gained 4lbs! Which is great! I think that because I have been so busy with both Madison, Zachary and Ryleigh this time around I haven't had time to gain any significant weight!

Other than that there isn't much going on. This will start getting exciting at the 10 week countdown! It should be an interesting holiday season. I wonder how I will handle The Day after Thanksgiving Shopping this year!
