What a month!

May has been quite the busy month. Today (18th) is Madison's last day of school. And last week there was an awards assembly. I had gotten an email from her teacher saying that Madison had received an award, and that we were invited to come. The award was for Citizenship. There were 4 kids in the whole first grade who received this award. Her friend Passion (wearing purple) also received it.

That same day (Friday 13th) Madison was recognized by her teacher for being a leader and making right choices! That meant that she was the last VIP of the year. This was her second time being VIP!! So after the awards assembly we went and picked up a pizza to take for lunch. Madison get's to choose 2 friends to eat at the special VIP tables.

She chose Jada and her best buddy Dana. These kids are hilarious! They were so excited. Two girls in 2nd grade who were on her basketball team came and gave her a hug and congratulated Madison! It was pretty cute!

After the VIP lunch we went home for about an hour then we took Brynley for her 4 month well child check.

(It's not the best picture but it does show her two rolls on her legs!!)
Brynley Grace @ 4 months
15.1 lbs (75%)
25 inches (75%)

I thought the scale was wrong!! She weighed only 8 lb 15oz at 2 months!! She sure did make up for lost time. She now wears a size 3 diaper, and 6-9 month clothes!! She loves to play with her hands and suck her thumb. Which Travis hates!! She has just discovered the toys hanging from her car seat and she will now grab at them. We tried rice cereal this morning for the fun of it, she really didn't like it, but she ate it!

She has been sleeping through the night for a while now. So Zachary and I put the crib up in his room. Brynley will sleep from 10p ish - about 8am. Zach loves to have a roommate. If he wakes up and she is still asleep he will come out quietly. But if she is awake, he entertains her until I come and get her.

This is her other new trick. She get's completely uncovered and turns sideways in her crib! She loves to be swaddled at night and some how she wiggles out! Yesterday her legs were hanging out of the bars!!

Also on the same day Zachary had his singing class recital. It was a busy day to say the least. This is the 2nd time Zachary was in the singing class. Our friend Janelle does it our of her house one day a week and the kids love it. This time around she focused on instruments and body movement.

This was one was about listening and they had to balance a bean bag on different parts of their body while marching in a circle.

This song was called Tambourine Kid. Zach is one of the older kids in the class and the tallest by far!

This month is almost over but now we have the summer ahead of us! I hope everyone had a good May! We did and it was a busy one!

Mother's Day bandwagon!!

I too, better post about the wonderful Mother's Day that I had. Travis got up a little earlier on Sunday morning and made my favorite breakfast............waffles! Real waffles. We have the box kind in the freezer, which I like too but real waffles are my most favorite!

We have Church at 11am, and Brynley usually eats and takes a nap towards the end. So after she ate Travis kindly took Brynn and put her to sleep so I could enjoy Relief Society. Two weeks in a row he has done this and it's a nice break!

When we got home the kids surprised me with new Pyrex dishes!! I have a track record of breaking my 9x13 or smaller pyrex's. I have blown two up in the oven, and one on the stove top because I left a burner on and set a 350 degree casserole on the burner! We both agreed that since I haven't broken any in about 2 years, I needed some new ones! I got a 9x13 and an 8x8, which I made lemon bars in!!

A mother's day tradition that I always look forward to is a DQ ice cream cake! I have gotten one every year for a while now. We all enjoyed a piece last night. I hope this tradition last forever! Or as long as DQ makes the ice cream cakes!!

I also got a Paula Dean recipe magazine. Which has all of her favorites! Like chicken pot pie!! There are a few recipes I am going to try! YUM!

I made dinner, and I am okay with it. I like to cook!

All in all it was a nice day. The kids made some cards at Church and I got a bag of candy treats. Jordan Almonds are my fav! I hope you all had a great Mother's day as well.

Fishing Derby and Family Time!

Today was the Rotary Club's Fishing Derby. Madison brought the flier home from school and was very excited about going fishing. It was $5 per kid, and they got a lunch and a participation prize. Travis went and bought stuff for bobber and worm fishing (aka white trash fishing!) Anyway he picked Zachary up a CARS pole so he could participate as well.

We got there early to register and find our spot. They assigned each kid to a number along the bank of the Indian Creek.

Checking out our spot!

Madison is ready to fish!

Zach and his new pole!

Brynley slept on and off. She loves to be outside!

They were ready to fish! The derby was from 12p-3p. There was no way the kids were going to last that long! They made it an hour and a half! Which was a lot longer than we expected!! Now as you can see, there was not a lot of room. From bank to bank it was maybe 20 feet!! So there were a lot of tangled lines with fellow fishermen. People were catching fish above us, below us and right across the way. But we didn't catch any at all, not even a nibble.

The first casts of the day!

Zachary told me tonight, that part of fishing is not catching any sometimes. And that he had a lot of fun and can't wait to go again!

I just love this one of Zach. He was so cute with his little pole. He stood on this rock the whole time!

Madison's one catch of the day! A piece of plastic!

Travis helping Madison with her bait!

After Madison would cast she would sit on her little rock chair!

And one last kid shot before we left!

We had a pretty fun day. Time well spent with Family!!

The Dentist!

Well Zachary has been spending a lot of time at Dr. Lloyd's office! All the ladies know him by name, and say hi every time we come in.
We had an appointment this week and he was so excited to go. However as soon as Dr. Lloyd began he totally freaked!! He was soooooo tired and didn't want to be there any longer. Dr. L is so incredibly patient with Zach and will do anything he can to make that boy happy. Including 2 toys out of the treasure chest!!
So not much was done at the appointment. We got as far as the "magic wand" aka numbing shot and nitrous. I always forget the camera but this time I remembered.

We brought the DS the last two times we went and it was a great distraction. Dr. L lets him play while he is working!! I don't know how he does it but it works. So Zach is playing while the gets numbed up and a little loopy! The game must be funner when your are on the laughing gas!!!
Oh Zach also likes to get comfortable while in the chair!! No shoes and "soft clothes!"

After we left the office and no work was done, he promised me and Dr. L that he would be a good boy and let him do the work next week. We live less than 5 minutes away and he was asleep before we got home and slept until 7:45p! That was an almost 4 hour nap!

Here is a picture of Brynley! She is getting more fun! She loves anyone who talks and smiles at her. She get's so excited to eat, and absolutely LOVES Zachary! I can't believe that she will be 4 months next week!!

So Excited!

Zachary was very excited for me to bake cookies a few weeks ago. He went and got the stop stool and sat in front of the oven and waited for the first batch! I haven't done a lot of baking since Brynley was born mainly because she wanted to be held so much and I couldn't bake and hold her at the same time. I have started baking more, probably not enough by Travis' standards!! If he had it his way I would have fresh baked goods every day!!

This is his spazy smile. He is afraid that he will blink when the flash goes off!!

This video of Madison is hilarious! She wants to be included when Travis and Zachary "play" baseball. Zachary has some talent for a 4 year old, and we are hoping that sports will be his thing. Madison has tried her hand at soccer and basketball and we have discovered that her athletic bone is small to none! However, she does try her best and that's all we can ask of her.
